Top flicks of the Noughties - 2002

28 Days Later
Hello Danny Boyle and hello brain-munching, rage-infected Britain. Brilliant re-imagining of the zombie genre, Cillian Murphy looked great with his head half shaved. If you ever find yourself in the same situation, stay away from the military.

About Schmidt
Jack Nicholson gets old and buys a Winnebago.

Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore gets personal with K-Mart and teaches us all the importance of documentaries.

Catch Me If You Can
Mr Spielberg directs a movie about a guy with an unusual last name. No wonder why he kept changing it to something else.

Chicago
Another musical, we learn that Richard Gere can sing and John C Reilly is extremely talented.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
World, meet Sam Rockwell. I know you'll get along just great.

Dog Soldiers
My favourite Scottish Werewolf movie. Small budget, big bite!

The Emperor's Club
Kevin Kline does Dead Poet's Society, this time it's all about history and not poetry so I guess it would be the Dead Historian's Society...

House of 1000 Corpses
I don't know why I put this here. I felt compelled to do so. I couldn't stop laughing when I was watching this! Best not watch if you have a queasy tummy, or if you have taste.

Insomnia
Robin Williams as a bad dude? Al Pacino can't get to sleep. Good cop flick.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
Can't remember what it was about but I know I laughed a lot!

Men In Black 2
All that stuff they did before, they did again but now with some other stuff. Tommy Lee Jones is still a cool dude.

One Hour Photo
Another creepy Robin Williams movie. Maybe this is why I don't get my photos developed at the shop anymore.

Panic Room
David Fincher give us the chills even in an itty bitty room. I wonder what happened to the girl playing Jodie Foster's daughter, I hear she's in some new Indie Vampire flick...

Phone Booth
Not a favourite but instead a plea for no more movies with Keifer Sutherland in a voice over. PLEASE. Keifer Sutherland is the new Morgan Freeeman.

Punch Drink Love
Adam Sandler not being Adam Sandler. Damn he's good at that.

Red Dragon
Prequel to the Silence of the Lambs. Mr Hopkins still has it. Ralph Fiennes was great as tatted up, dental crazy, Francis Dolarhyde.

Spider Man
With great power comes great responsibility. If only writers would use that line responsibly.

Star Trek: Nemesis
I don't care, it's Star Trek and its on the big screen, now leave me alone!

The Bourne Identity
And the other ones. Hello Matt Damon. How about THEM apples!

The Count of Monte Cristo
Much easier watching the movie than reading the book. I started it a few years go and still haven't finished it. Makes you miss Richard Harris even more.

The Importance of Being Ernest
Do you smoke?
Well yes, I must admit I smoke
Glad to hear it, a man must have an occupation.
Oscar Wilde on the big screen with Mr Darcy. What more could a girl want?

The Rules of Attraction
Another Bret Easton Ellis adaptation made purely to rid James Van Der Beek from the Dawson's Creek image. Really good soundtrack and some interesting extra bits on the DVD.

Thirteen
A kid wrote this? Wow. Teen angst at its best.
