Top flicks of the Noughties - 2003

A Mighty Wind
Christopher Guest of This Is Spinal Tap fame gives us an intimate look into the lives of a group of Folk singers. Brilliant.

Bad Santa
Billy Bob Thornton plays bad so good. There's a really well times safe opening scene that is soooo funny.

Big Fish
Directed by Tim Burton and written by John August (he's got a fantastic blog - link is on the right). An amazing cast in a visual feast of a film.

Bruce Almighty
I didn't mind this one, good for a few laughs. I knew Morgan Freeman was God. How else could he do all those voice overs?

Daredevil
Should I? Oh, OK. Twas alright.

Goodbye Lenin!
A film about a guy and his mum. She goes into a coma before the Berlin Wall came down. She wakes up after the wall came down and her son thinks she'll freak out about it so he plays her old TV shows and covers up the world outside so she;ll think that nothing has changed. Really charming movie.

Intolerably Cruelty
Two words. Cohen Brothers.

Kill Bill Volume One
Everyone got a new ringtone after this flick, that whistle was great. Tarantino back after a bit of time off.

Lost in Translation
Iche bin eine Bill Murray.

The Matrix Reloaded
Agent Smith gets an upgrade, everyone else gets swankier sunglasses and has a rave in a cave, Hugo Weaving works on his zany speech patterns.

Pirates of the Caribbean and the Piratey Stuff
Johnny Depp impersonates Keith Richards and wears a big-ass hat. Everyone loved it.

Shattered Glass
Hayden Christensen (that dude from the new Star Wars flicks) in a true story about a reporter for the New Republic magazine who made up half the shit he wrote and got away with it for a very long time. First time I saw Peter Sarsgaard in a movie. Yummo.

The Hulk
Ang Lee... hmmm...

The Last Samurai
Did for kimonos what Braveheart did for kilts.

The Yes Men
If anyone asks if you would like a re-burger, the answer is no. Fantastic doco about a group of guys who took on the World Trade Organisation. Must see.

X-Men 2
What? No Nightcrawler?
