Top flicks of the Noughties - 2000

As the year, and another decade draws to a close (how that is done literally I have no idea), it's the perfect time to make a list. I'm sure I'll miss some and maybe even put a few on that you don't like. Oh well, 'tis my blog after all ; )

My top flicks of 2000

American Psycho
Hello Christian Bale! Loooved this movie so much. Finally found the book not too long ago. Bret Easton Ellis would be proud. If you're at an ATM and it says 'Feed me a kitten' it's best that you don't.

Brigdet Jones' Diary
Mr Darcy playing Mr Darcy. Nuff said.

Dude Where's My Car
Dude. Sweet.

Final Destination
Not super big on acting or plot or anything but I loved the crazy-ass way they killed people off. Makes you want to stay at home.

Hannibal
Hello, Clarice. Finaly the sequel to Thomas Harris' Silence of the Lambs hit the big screen. Anthony Hopkins, I love thee so. It was weird having Julianne Moore play Clarice Starling but hey, you can't always get what you want. Adored Giancarlo Gianinni as Inspector Pazzi.

High Fidelity
I heart John Cusack. I also heart Top Five lists though I can never stick to just five. Great flick, greater soundtrack. Introduced Jack Black to the world, you gotta love a movie that does that.

Amelie
Ahhh, in my permanent Top Five favourite flicks list. Magnifique! So quirky, so beautifully shot. One to watch over and over again.

Memento
WTF? Another to watch over and over again only so you'll work out what is going on. A good reason for not getting tattoos when you're not quite all there.

Shadow of the Vampire
Before all that Twilight stuff came along, there used to be some really good flicks about Vampires. Like Willen Dafoe playing a vampire pretending to be an actor playing a vampire. Brilliant!

The Emperor's New Groove
I used to put this on all the time at the video shop I used to work at. David Spade as the voice of egotistical Emperor Kuzco, Patrick 'My spinach puffs!' Warburton as Kronk. That Angel and Devil scene gets me every time (just watch the video and you'll see). "He wants to lead you down the path of righteousness, I'm gonna lead you down the path that rocks." Beware the groove!

The Grinch
See above. Except for the bit about the spinach puffs, and this one had Jim Carrey instead of all those other people.

Unbreakable
M Night Shaymalanananan and Bruce Willis team up again in the story about a man who has never been sick and another man who really needs to get a new hair dresser.

Woman On Top
Cute movie about Penelope Cruz as a TV chef who gets really bad motion sickness. Great latin music.

X-Men
Another reason to love Patrick Stewart if you needed one. The beginning of the comic-book-movie phase. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
