Qi Book Of General Ignorance

'The Noticeably Stouter'
Qi Book Of General Ignorance
by John Lloyd & John Mitchinson

As the blurb on the back of the book states, 'This comprehensive catalogue of all the misconceptions, mistakes and misunderstandings in 'common knowledge' will make you wonder why anyone bothers to go to school.'
If you haven't seen the show Qi (Quite interesting), you must! It's a hilarious panel quiz show hosted by the noticeably less stouter Stephen Fry with Alan Davis as a regular and other comedic guests include Jimmy Carr, Jo Brand, Sean Locke, Ben Miller, Rich Hall, Bill Bailey, even Jeremy Clarkson pops his head in every now and then.
It's a show that points out how little we really know about things and the book is a compilation of oodles of facts that most people would think were incorrect.
What is the highest mountain on Earth? Not Mount Everest! It's actually Mauna Kea in Hawaii standing at a whopping 10,200 meters, just happens that about 6,000 of those meters are in the ocean.
How many commandments are there in the bible? Ten? Try 613!
What was Tutankhamun's curse? There was no inscription on the tomb about a curse at all!
The book is loaded with fascinating tidbits that will make any pub quiz master question their own answers and make teachers re-think what they teach at school.
It's an absolute delight to read, you even feel smarter at each turn of the page.
A must read for anyone who wants to know what's really going on in the world.
